2015 in review: My First Year
East Yorkshire Wedding Photographer
Wow, well that year went speedy quick! I began 2015 as an overly excited, slightly-nervous wedding photographer starting my first year of business. After 3 years of second shooting gaining experience in my craft I decided to take the leap and go it alone. Now I look back and I see I ended the year having met some of the most lovely people ever, I was able to travel all over the country as well as abroad to Italy and Ibiza to photograph people in love. Dream job? I think so.
Photography is something I have always had a strong passion for and having had the opportunity to photograph on behalf of other wedding photographers I soon realised this was something I loved to be a part of. Getting to meet people from all walks of life and appreciating the finer details that make up this one special day will always be my favourite thing. I am not going to lie and say I wasn’t nervous, anybody starting a new business I’m sure would feel just the same. Leaving a comfortable job to pursue something you’ve always dreamed of comes with its risks, but I have been pretty lucky to have an amazing support network of friends and family around me that have kept me going and given me the confidence to give this my all. And to those I want to give a big thank you and a fist bump for being completely awesome.
Anybody out there thinking of making a new years resolution to pursue something they enjoy I would say just do it, be brave and make that jump. You won’t regret it.
I still have so much to update on the blog from 2015 which I will be catching up with in the next month but for the time being here is my round up of 2015 and the lovely couples who I got to photograph. Thank you for putting your trust in me. Happy new year to you all and I cannot wait to meet and photograph all my new couples this year!
Thank you to Carly Bevan, Hannah Leech, Patrick Mateer, Thomas Arran and Alex Abbott for being amazing second shooters this year
