It isn’t every day you book a wedding photographer so to help eliminate any confusion when booking your photography I have compiled a list of frequently asked questions that hopefully cover most of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How do we book?

Do you charge travel expenses?

Get in touch first to check we have availability for your date. We'd love to hear about wedding plans too so if we are free we always arrange a video call to chat further and get to know each other.

If you would like to secure your date I ask for a deposit of £300 for photography only bookings and £500 for our Photo & Film package. We also provide a contractual agreement which will require signing to confirm your booking.

This is all done within our online booking system which is super easy to navigate and means you have all your information in one place.

There is no charge for travel within 20 miles of HU1 but after that a small fee will be applied. We can quote this during the enquiry stage.

For venues which are over 1.5 hour drive of HU1 will require an overnight stay the night before your wedding. This is to limit the chances of any roadworks etc delaying our arrival on the day of your wedding. Again this can be quoted at enquiry stage.

Within 24 hours after your wedding I deliver a couple of preview images for you to share with friends and family.

Your full gallery will be delivered within 4 - 8 weeks via a password protected online gallery.

when will we receive the full gallery of images?

My package just includes myself on your wedding day, however I do offer the option of adding an extra photographer to your coverage for £300.

A second photographer is a good option when you are planning a large wedding with a high number of guests, having that extra person there ensures better coverage of your guests throughout the day. I work closely with some very talented photographers who assist me regularly.

All photos taken by a second photographer are edited by myself so your gallery is consistent in style.

Do you work with a second photographer?

Yes my partner Kurt is a highly recommend videographer who I work with regularly. You may have seen information about him throughout the website, you can see more of his work at www.ksmithfilms.co.uk

We offer a Photo & Film wedding package together. More information can be found on my pricing page.

Can you recommend a trusted videographer?

What time do you arrive?

We generally begin capturing your day from around 2 - 2.5 hours before your ceremony depending on logistics.

Our coverage ends 30 minutes after your first dance. We never leave until we know we have captured enough of your evening however additional hours can be added if you feel necessary.

Exact timings are confirmed during the pre-wedding consultation stage around 3 weeks before the big day.

When is our final balance due?

I initially require a deposit to save your date. Without a deposit your wedding date is not saved in our diary and can be booked by someone else.

Your remaining balance to be settled 4 weeks prior to the wedding however you can pay earlier.

The pre-wedding shoot I offer additional to my wedding package is a great opportunity for us to have some fun and get to know each other before the big day. I like to keep the shoot relaxed and fun usually lasting around and hour. The location can be up to you, it can be somewhere sentimental to you both or I am happy to send over suggestions.

If you are still unsure, please get in touch and I would be happy to send over my engagement shoot PDF.

do we need a pre-wedding shoot?

After every wedding I shoot, I back up online as well as to two separate external hard drives so you can guarantee your images are safe and secure during the editing process. I always recommend once you have received all your images that you back-up also.

I always carry two high-end DSLR cameras with me on a wedding day in case the problem did arise that one camera failed. I also bring with me a wide range of lenses and a back-up flash-gun as well. I am fully insured with public liability and also indemnity insurance.

How safe are my photos and/or video?

Yes, drone footage is included in all wedding films if the weather permits this. Please check to make sure your venue is not within a restricted area or flight path.
